The parents of Madeleine McCann yesterday hit out at
government spending cuts reported to have caused a top legal
officer to resign. |
|
Jim Gamble
quit as chief of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre in
the wake of the decision by Home Secretary
Theresa May to merge it with the
National Crime Agency.
Kate and
Gerry McCann
said in a statement: "The resignation will be a
huge loss to child protection
"It's extremely saddening that he feels unable to continue to lead the
CEOP, apparently as a consequence of the proposed changes."
They added: "We urge the Government to remember the value of our
children."
Madeleine
vanished in a Portuguese holiday resort in May 2007, aged nearly four. |
