Belfast, Ireland – A Belfast man, who told police he wished he had
kidnapped missing British girl Madeleine McCann, pleaded guilty to 24
counts of making indecent images of children and four charges of
distributing child pornography between 2006 and 2009.
RTE News reports that not only did accountant Barry James Shaw admit to
his desire to abduct Madeleine, but was also known for trolling social
networks and boasting “about his fantasies of raping, torturing and
murdering babies.”
According to the Belfast Telegraph, the charges against Shaw, 31,
involve more than 4,000 images, 28 movies and around 1,000 disturbing
pictures showing sexual acts between children and adults, “as well as
images of bestiality and sadomasochism.”
The report indicates that Shaw was sentenced to two years behind bars,
also agreeing to an additional three years of probation. He will also be
placed on the country's sex registry for life and once released, is
banned from using any type of technology that does not have monitoring
software installed. He will also be restricted from any contact with
children.
During his court hearing, Judge Patrick Lynch QC told Shaw, “You may
have felt at the time, in your room downloading these materials that you
caused no hurt to anyone but for each of these appalling images there
are victims and if it were not for people like yourself there would be
no demand for them and the abuse that is inherent in the production of
these materials would not occur.”

on vacation with her family in Praia da Luz, Portugal. Her parents, Kate
and Gerry McCann, had been dining with friends and left the girl and her
twin siblings in the villa where the family was staying. When the
McCanns returned, Madeleine was gone.
No one has been arrested for the abduction and Madeleine's whereabouts
