The McCann couple have already spent 3 million and twenty thousand Euros
on searches for Maddie who disappeared from Praia da Luz, Lagos, in May
2007.
This sum, coming from the Find Madeleine Fund and revealed yesterday by
the Daily Mirror, was spent on publicity campaigns and private
investigators and is the result of donations received from all over the
world. However, expenditure has constantly exceeded the donations.
According to accounting details presented by the Fund managers, at the
end of the last fiscal year, only 150 thousand Euros remained, after 603
thousand Euros were spent during the last 12 months. The money, managed
by a group of administrators including the McCann couple, was so close
to running out that Kate was “obliged” to write the “Madeleine” book,
published in May last year. The book enabled the raising of thousands of
Euros to keep the search for Maddie alive. |
