THE parents of missing Madeleine McCann were last night formally invited to the
Vatican to meet the Pope, a family spokesman said.
Kate and Gerry McCann, whose daughter was abducted 25 days ago, will be part of
a general audience with the Pontiff tomorrow morning.
They said they were delighted by the decision.
Their spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, said: "We have received confirmation
that Gerry and Kate McCann will be able to attend the general audience with the
Holy Father this Wednesday and they will be personally greeted at the end of
the audience. The family members are delighted that this important spiritual
support has been afforded to them."
Yesterday, the family released two video clips of Madeleine, now four, captured
on a family friend's mobile phone. In one, Madeleine, is seen clambering up the
steps to the aircraft that took the family to Portugal, clutching her pink Barbie
rucksack.
Another clip - 13 seconds long - shows her sitting on an airport bus.
Yesterday, the couple visited the beach at Praia da Luz to look at an 800sqft
billboard with Madeleine's face on it, put up by supporters Chris Lennox from
Prestwick, Ayrshire, and Les Harley, of Irvine. |
