MADDIE'S little cousin Gregor McCann clutched a special teddy bear
for her birthday as he prayed for her safe return at a moving
service on Friday.
The seven-year-old said the little blue toy was bought recently when
their families were together on holiday.
He said: "I got this on the ferry to Ireland when I was with
Madeleine - I'm keeping it for her for when she comes home. We all
want her to come home."
Gregor and his 10-year-old sister Fiona were just two of many
children among the 600 well-wishers at St Andrew's Cathedral,
Glasgow, on Friday night.
Little Gregor and Fiona, wearing a yellow ribbon in her hair,
clutched mum Diane's hand during the emotional service.
Other supporters clutched single yellow roses and candles and wiped
away tears as they looked at pictures of Madeleine's smiling face
posted around the church.
A cathedral spokeswoman said it was the biggest crowd there in 10
years. "The last time we had people standing outside was when
Princess Diana died," she said.
Doting Diane, 43, is taking part in a womens' 10k road race in
Glasgow today, where she'll distribute T-shirts emblazoned with a
picture and the slogan "I'm running for Madeleine McCann".
She said: "We need to keep the momentum going. We need to find her."
Madeleine's gran, Ellen, 67, of Shawlands, Glasgow, added: "Maddie
is just so bright and just so full of life and mischief.
"I miss her terribly and just can't wait to have her back |
